The Washington Commanders will start organized team activities soon, offering fans an early look at new personnel brought in to improve a 5-12 roster. Two returning players are not new: wide receiver Dyami Brown returns after one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, following inconsistent production during four seasons in Washington and a later stint elsewhere. Defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. also returns after two seasons each with the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans, having previously been a rotational backup in Washington before becoming a regular starter at his last stop. Settle is expected to fit into Dan Quinn’s defensive front alongside Javon Kinlaw and Daron Payne, helping address a weak interior group. Brown faces a tougher path to roster impact due to added wide receivers and emerging options.
"Out of the two second-time Commanders, Settle is the most likely to factor into head coach Dan Quinn's game plan. He should start alongside Javon Kinlaw and Daron Payne in Daronte Jones' projected 3-4 defensive front. Washington also has Johnny Newton, but he's more of a pass-rush specialist from the interior. Settle will be counted on to help clean up a position group that was among the Commanders' weakest a season ago, and is still far from a strength. It will be fascinating to see how Jones uses him."
