Art Monk's jersey No. 81 will be retired by the Washington Commanders, making him the sixth player in the franchise's history to receive this honor. Monk, who is the franchise's all-time leading receiver with 888 catches for 12,026 yards, played 14 seasons with the team from 1980 to 1993. The retirement ceremony will take place during the Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 2. The franchise will also debut its new "Super Bowl Era" alternate uniforms during this game.
"Art, for everything you've done - not just for this team but for all of us who had the honor to play alongside you - this is a moment that's been a long time coming."
"You showed us what greatness looked like every single day in your work ethic and your humility and how you carried this franchise with dignity."
