Michael Soroka comes undone after five strong innings in his Nats return
Briefly

In a promising but ultimately disappointing outing, Michael Soroka shone in his first five innings, striking out eight and allowing just two hits. However, the sixth inning unraveled for him as he gave up three singles, leading to a disastrous three-run double from Carlos Santana. Soroka's strong start turned sour, resulting in four earned runs against him. The Nationals' bullpen then further eroded the team's chances, allowing a total of eight runs that inning, contributing to an 8-6 loss against the Cleveland Guardians.
The only pitch I really, really want back is that pitch to Santana. I just probably threw it about six inches too high. He's a good hitter and he made me pay.
Soroka, making his first start in more than a month after straining his right biceps, threw 78 pitches, 53 for strikes. He struck out eight and walked two.
After Soroka's departure, the Nationals' bullpen struggled, allowing eight runs in one inning, with 13 Guardians batting in the sixth.
In all, Soroka was charged with four earned runs, López with three without retiring a batter, raising his ERA to 7.41.
