John Wall announced retirement at 34 after injuries derailed his playing career and will transition to an NBA analyst role with Amazon Prime. Wall leaves a lasting legacy as one of the best players to wear Washington Wizards colors and sets a high standard for future guards. The Wizards selected Tre Johnson No. 6 overall; Johnson is a former Texas standout and an explosive 6-foot-6 scorer praised for efficient scoring on- and off-ball. High expectations exist for Johnson to become a star, but the pick also carries risk given Washington's recent draft struggles aside from Wall and Bradley Beal.
At 34, the former No. 1 overall pick is forced to leave his playing days in the past after injuries derailed his career. Despite his career being cut short, his legacy will live on as he will forever be known as one of the best players to ever suit up for the Washington Wizards. With Wall setting the bar high for incoming guards in the future, it turns all eyes on Tre Johnson who many feel could be the next best guard
The explosive scorer has every tool needed to be a star in this league and there's no doubt about it. Not only is the 6-foot-6 guard one of the most talented scorers not only in this draft class, but the league as a whole now. The guard can put the ball in the basket at will and he's able to do it efficiently.
If Johnson hits, he could be the next player to make a strong argument to have his jersey hung in the rafter when it's all said and done. However, if he doesn't hit, he'll be yet another swing and miss from a Wizards organization who has struggled immensely to hit on lottery picks over the last decade not named Wall or Bradley Beal.
