The inaugural Sligo Cup took place at County Sligo Golf Club in Rosses Point, gathering golf clubs from across Sligo for a day focused on friendship, competition, and community ties. Representatives and captains from multiple clubs attended, with organisers aiming to make the event an annual fixture that rotates among clubs throughout the county. County Sligo Golf Club Captain Hugh Arnold described the purpose as uniting Sligo clubs through camaraderie and shared appreciation for golf. He said the day was not only about competition, but also about strengthening relationships, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and creating positive momentum for golf in Sligo. A perpetual trophy has been commissioned featuring the Sligo county crest and “The Land of Heart's Desire.”
