Germany to host 2029 Women's European Championship DW 12/03/2025
"Germany is set to host the women's Euros in 2029. In a bid process that saw Italy and then Portugal drop out, Germany was victorious over bids from Poland, aiming to become the first Eastern European nation to host a women's tournament, and a joint bid from Denmark and Sweden. Germany hosted the men's Euros in 2024, but this is Germany's women's first tournament since the 2011 World Cup."
"A major factor in Germany winning the right to host the 2029 tournament may have been the DFB's pledge to make this the first Women's Euros to turn a profit. This is based on its projection of more than a million tickets sold, financial commitments from each of the would-be host cities, and support from German business. UEFA lost an estimated 35 million ($40 million) on the 2025 Women's Euros in Switzerland."
Germany will host the 2029 UEFA Women's European Championship after bids from Italy and Portugal dropped and Germany prevailed over Poland and the Denmark-Sweden joint bid. The tournament will feature matches in Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Dortmund, Hanover, Wolfsburg and Leipzig under the slogan "WE'29 - Together we will rise." The German FA pledged €100 million to develop the women's game, mainly to professionalize the women's Bundesliga. The DFB projects profitability through over a million tickets, city commitments and business support. The national team showed promise under Christian Wuck despite a recent Nations League Final loss to Spain.
