"This is a key appointment for the future of women's football in Northern Ireland,"
"We've made huge progress in recent years, and now we're focused on finding the right leader to take us even further."
"It's an exciting time for the game, and we look forward to welcoming someone who shares our passion and vision."
The Irish Football Association has started preparations to recruit a new Northern Ireland women's senior manager following Tanya Oxtoby's departure in November to become head coach at WSL2 side Newcastle United. Oxtoby served two years and began in September 2023, succeeding Kenny Shiels, who guided Northern Ireland to their first major tournament at Euro 2022. Angela Platt, director of women's football at the Irish FA, emphasized finding the "right leader" and described the appointment as a key step after recent progress. No timeframe has been set for a successor announcement. Northern Ireland's next fixtures are 2027 World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Turkey in March.
