Female athletes navigate a paradoxical expectation to be strong in sports while maintaining a feminine image. UConn basketball star Azzi Fudd experienced this pressure growing up. Fudd is now collaborating with Madison Reed, a beauty brand founded by UConn alum Amy Errett, to challenge these narrow perceptions. The partnership aims to celebrate female athletes for their confidence and beauty. Errett emphasizes that Madison Reed was created to provide women with better hair dye options, taking into account their regular coloring needs and promoting confidence on their terms.
"Growing up, I felt like if you were good at sports, people would label you a tomboy or say you weren't girly enough," says UConn basketball star Azzi Fudd.
"This movement of athletes being celebrated for their confidence and beauty is still new," Errett says. "When people think of Madison Reed, I want them to think of the aspiration to feel confident - on their terms."
