The 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup opens on August 22 at Sunderland's Stadium of Light with England's Red Roses facing the USA's Eagles. England enter as overwhelming favourites and the tournament will run for about a month. More than 1,000 pubs across the UK, including dozens in London, will screen every match via Asahi's Rugby Like Never Before campaign, expanding accessibility. The Twickenham final is expected to attract approximately 82,000 spectators, potentially setting an attendance record for women's rugby. London event highlights include an official Battersea fan zone with a large screen and a T1 tag rugby pitch, plus pop-up pubs and watch parties.
Thanks to Asahi's Rugby Like Never Before campaign, more than 1,000 pubs across the UK (and dozens in London) have pledged to screen every match of the tournament, making it the most accessible women's rugby tournament to date. On top of that, the final is on track to break records, with crowd of 82,000 expected to descend on Twickenham Stadium. That would make it the most attended women's rugby match in history.
Situated in the shadow of Battersea Power Station's iconic 103-metre tall chimney towers, London's official fan zone for the tournament will be up and running from the start of the knockout stages until the final. As well as a huge screen showing the matches on weekends, the space features a T1 tag rugby pitch which will play host to rugby taster sessions, activations and sports-themed entertainment on weekdays throughout the two-week run.
