Four miners were extracted on Saturday after being found crouched on a rocky ledge about 300 metres from the cave entrance. The first miner was rescued on Friday, captured on camera emerging covered in mud and walking unsteadily. Rescuers drained water and navigated collapse hazards during the perilous operation. The remaining two missing miners are being searched by international diving teams working through muddy water and poor visibility in narrow passageways. The men entered the cave last week seeking valuable minerals such as gold ore, then were trapped by flash flooding from heavy rain that carried sand and gravel and blocked a crucial exit. Rescuers provided water, soft food, and foil blankets to the five found on Wednesday to keep them warm while trapped.
"Four more miners who were trapped in a flooded cave in Laos for 10 days have been freed by divers, but two people are still missing as rescuers continue to crawl through narrow, deluged tunnels and sharp rocks to find them."
