Israeli strikes on Gaza reported despite Trump truce push DW 10/04/2025
"Gaza officials say Israel has carried out dozens of attacks on Gaza City and other areas of the Palestinian territory despite a call from US President Donald Trump for it to stop its bombardments after Hamas accepted some terms of a US peace plan. "It was a very violent night, during which the (Israeli army) carried out dozens of airstrikes and artillery shelling on Gaza City and other areas in the Strip, despite President Trump's call to halt the bombing," civil defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP news agency."
"Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Friday that he believed Hamas had shown it was "ready for a lasting PEACE" and that "Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly!" Hamas said on Friday it was ready under the Trump plan to release hostages it has held in Gaza since the October 7, 2023, terror attacks it led in southern Israel."
"Four people in a house in Gaza City died in one strike, while two others were killed in Khan Younis in the south, medical workers and local authorities said. The Israeli military chief of staff has instructed forces in a statement to prepare for the implementation of the first phase of Trump's plan but failed to mention whether there would be reduction of military activity in Gaza."
Israeli forces carried out dozens of airstrikes and artillery strikes on Gaza City and other areas despite a presidential call to halt bombardment. Casualties included four people killed in a Gaza City house strike and two killed in Khan Younis, according to medical workers and local authorities. Hamas said it was prepared under the plan to release hostages taken on October 7, 2023, but sought negotiation over details and a role in Gaza's future. President Trump said Hamas showed readiness for lasting peace and urged an immediate halt to bombing to secure hostage releases. The Israeli chief of staff ordered forces to prepare for the first phase of the plan without specifying any reduction in military activity.
