"Keir Starmer must obey his legal duty to act to prevent a genocide, Greta Thunberg has told the Guardian while travelling aboard an aid flotilla heading for Gaza. The Swedish activist said there was a huge absence of those whose legal responsibility it is to step up under international law, and called out the UK prime minister before a potential meeting this week with Israel's president, Isaac Herzog."
"The words we will use to describe people who are standing on the wrong side of history, supporting or committing war crimes, those words do not exist yet, those slurs do not exist yet, but we will be using them towards people like [Starmer]. She said people around the world were waking up to what is happening to the Palestinian people and refusing to watch a livestream genocide take place."
Greta Thunberg travelled aboard an aid flotilla to Gaza highlighting an absence of governments fulfilling legal responsibilities under international law. The flotilla comprises hundreds of activists on a legal aid mission amid UN warnings that civilians face starvation and intensified attacks forcing displacement. Concerns were raised about UK political engagement with Israel's president after his comments blaming all of Palestine for the 7 October attacks. Downing Street did not confirm whether the UK prime minister would meet Israel's president, while activists insist governments must act to prevent genocide and not support an apartheid regime.
