A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck off the coast of Manay town in Davao Oriental, Mindanao, at 9:43am local time, at a depth of 43 kilometres. Phivolcs attributed the quake to movement in the Philippine Trench at a depth of 23 kilometres and warned of aftershocks while issuing a tsunami warning for nearby coasts with expected waves over 1 metre.
