Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo denied excessive force and said the government had no official figures on protesters killed, while describing pockets of violence, vandalism and burned electricity utilities. The UN said credible sources indicated at least ten deaths and urged security forces to avoid disproportionate force.
