Sixteen-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim, a Palestinian-American from Florida, was released after nine months in Israeli custody following a guilty plea and suspended sentence. He was arrested in a February raid on his family's West Bank home when he was 15, allegedly blindfolded and handcuffed, and charged with two counts of throwing objects at moving vehicles. Ibrahim lost about a quarter of his body weight, developed scabies, and appeared severely underweight and pale on release. He was taken immediately for intravenous therapy and blood work. The case drew attention after the alleged mid-July beating death of his cousin, Sayfollah Musallet, and the US State Department engaged because of his citizenship.
