Sudan: One-sided truce prompts calls for humanitarian aid DW 11/07/2025
""In response to the aspirations and interests of the Sudanese people, the Rapid Support Forces affirms its agreement to enter into the humanitarian truce proposed by the Quad countries,""
""Trump administration for its efforts and proposals to achieve peace""
""preparations for the Sudanese people's battle are ongoing.""
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) stated willingness to enter a three-month humanitarian truce proposed by the Quad countries (United States, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia). The truce is to be followed by a ceasefire and a political process. The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has rejected the Quad proposal and a separate US-proposed truce, with SAF officials expressing ongoing preparations for battle. Fighting since April 2023 over RSF integration into the national army has produced a devastating civil war, massive casualties, ruined infrastructure, widespread famine and disease, and large internal and external displacement. A credible truce could open a window for urgently needed humanitarian aid.
