The humanitarian ship Conscience was attacked by a drone strike while in international waters off Malta, shortly after leaving Türkiye to deliver aid to Gaza. The ship carried crew members and activists linked to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. Though Israel has not claimed responsibility, evidence suggests state involvement, particularly after Malta received a request from Israel to deny the ship entry. A crew member reported the attack, emphasizing unity in their mission to aid Gaza despite the violence faced.
"We are on the Conscience ship, they just attacked the ship with drones a few minutes ago and the front of the ship is damaged," Songür said in a video shared online, moments after the vessel was attacked.
"I am speaking especially to Israel. Whatever you are trying to do, you will never succeed...all of humanity has risen up".
"We can't go anywhere, our generators are blown. An attack like this only strengthens our resolve to help Gaza and its people."
According to Maltese parliamentarians, days before the attack, the Israeli government requested that Malta refuse entry to the humanitarian ship."
