US officials say Tehran could take up to three days, with timing possibly extending to a week or more, to respond to a revised US framework. The New York Times reported Trump toughened terms in a proposal to end the nearly three-month US-Israel war on Iran, and the US sent the updated framework back for Iranian consideration. Axios reported Trump sought to reinforce points including handling of Iran’s nuclear material, while a White House Situation Room meeting ended without a decision. The war began after US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, and the revised tweaks could prolong negotiations before any decision on ending hostilities. Trump’s stated priorities include Iran agreeing never to develop nuclear weapons and reopening the blockaded Strait of Hormuz, which carries about 20% of global oil supply transit. Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters reasserted control of the strait and warned foreign commercial and military vessels.
