The recent escalation in the India-Pakistan conflict has resulted in significant disruptions to commercial flights, with numerous airlines re-routing or cancelling operations. On the day of India's strikes against alleged terrorist sites in Pakistan, many Indian airports were closed, leading to widespread operational issues. Authorities in Pakistan reported that 57 international flights were in the airspace at the time, raising safety concerns. Airlines like IndiGo have already announced cancellations, affecting a substantial number of scheduled flights in both nations. The possibility of a full closure of Pakistani airspace again looms if tensions persist.
Airlines including United Airlines and Korean Air re-routed or cancelled flights and about a dozen Indian airports were shut on Wednesday after India struck nine sites in Pakistan.
If the conflict continues, there is a chance that Pakistan could impose a full airspace closure, as they did from Feb. to Aug. 2019 under similar circumstances.
