The United States under Donald Trump is seen as attempting to end the post–second world war, rules-based global order it helped create. Migration provides economic and social benefits. Traditional rightwing parties have weakened climate consensus by copying populist policies. Several European nations are recognising a Palestinian state, while an overall divided and poor European response to Gaza persists. Global challenges cross borders and require stronger cooperation.
