UN calls on Israel to prevent Gaza genocide'

"A new report investigating Israeli military conduct in the war on Gaza up until May 2025 and published by the UN Human Rights Office on Monday concluded that Israel has committed serious violations of international humanitarian law, which in many cases may have amounted to war crimes and other atrocity crimes."

"Several investigations, including those by the UN and the International Association of Genocide Scholars, have concluded that Israel's war on the small enclave constituted genocide, with nearly 73,000 people reported by the Gaza Ministry of Health to have been killed."

The UN rights chief called for Israel to end its unlawful presence in the occupied West Bank. The UN urged Israel to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza and raised concerns about ethnic cleansing across Palestinian territory, including the occupied West Bank. A UN Human Rights Office report investigating Israeli military conduct in Gaza up to May 2025 concluded that Israel committed serious violations of international humanitarian law, in many cases amounting to war crimes and other atrocity crimes. The report said many killings were unlawful even while some attacks hit military targets and the Israeli army sought the return of hostages. Investigations have concluded the war constituted genocide, with about 73,000 deaths reported by Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The report warned of an accelerating trajectory undermining Palestinian life while consolidating annexation, alongside increased raids in the West Bank.
