Børge Brende, president and CEO of the World Economic Forum, resigned following the release of Epstein investigation files. After eight years leading the organization, Brende stepped down stating the timing was appropriate for the Forum to continue its work without distractions. WEF co-chairs André Hoffmann and Larry Fink acknowledged his departure and noted an internal investigation found no additional concerns beyond previously disclosed information. However, newly released Epstein files contradicted Brende's earlier claims of being unaware of Epstein's criminal activities. Communications between Brende and Epstein continued well after Epstein's 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor, with messages documented through mid-2019, shortly before Epstein's death in custody.
