"Kitchen cabinetry doesn't always need to be replaced if it's in good shape and you like the style," she advises. "Painting it can be a game-changer and is often a fraction of the cost - usually about a quarter of the price of replacing it.""
"Jacklynn swapped out the hardware on the cabinets herself. "The cabinet above the new fridge had to be removed, so instead of cutting it down and reinstalling it, I opted to place a large basket in the space," she adds. Jacklynn hired professionals to spray cabinets with Benjamin Moore Pale Smoke, producing a "beautiful blue" finish and avoiding cabinet replacement. Painting preserved the existing cabinetry style and delivered significant cost savings, typically around one quarter of replacement expense. Jacklynn replaced the cabinet hardware herself to modernize the look. She removed the cabinet above the new fridge and chose to place a large basket in the resulting space rather than cutting and reinstalling the cabinet. The basket resolved the fit issue and introduced texture and visual interest to the kitchen where it had been lacking.
