Train service between Orange and San Diego counties is suspended for approximately six weeks as construction crews work to stabilize an unstable section of coastline in San Clemente. Both Metrolink and Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner are affected by these disruptions. Metrolink services will resume at Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Station, omitting four southern stops without any bus service or detours. This urgent construction aims to protect against coastal erosion and landslide risks, as authorities seek to ensure safety and stability along this critical railway line.

Emergency action is necessary to address urgent threats from slope and beach erosion and to protect the community, rail passengers and overall rail operations, said OCTA.
