Major plan to knock down and rebuild estate with 500 homes and new shops
Briefly

Havering Council, in partnership with Wates, has submitted a planning application to redevelop the Farnham and Hilldene estate in Harold Hill. The ambitious project plans to demolish current housing for 481 new homes, complemented by retail and community spaces. Residents previously relocated for the redevelopment will have the right to return. Community sentiment is positive, as reflected in a recent ballot with a notable 96.3% approval. Councillors assert that the initiative will modernize the area, creating a safer, livelier community, and addressing local housing needs as part of the larger 12 Estates Project.
We’ll transform the outdated estate into a vibrant community that offers modern housing and improved retail facilities, ensuring safety and sustainability for all residents.
Our plans aim to revitalize the heart of Harold Hill, creating a family-friendly environment supported by shared community spaces and quality public facilities.
