Kieffer Moore gave Wales the lead in the 24th minute when he poked home on the rebound after Liam Cullen's header was kept out by Temirlan Anarbekov. Kazakhstan responded well, though, with Galymzhan Kenzhebek curling narrowly wide in the 39th minute before seeing an effort tipped onto the crossbar by Karl Darlow six minutes into the second half. Kenzhebek went close again eight minutes later, and Maxim Samordov was also thwarted by Darlow as the hosts continued to pile on the pressure.
European champions Spain will begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a visit to Sofia to take on Bulgaria. These two nations are in Group E, along with Turkey and Georgia. The group winner will automatically qualify for the tournament, while the second-place team will enter the qualifying play-offs. Bulgaria are coming off a disappointing Nations League campaign where they failed to secure promotion to League B after losing to the Republic of Ireland in the play-offs.
