AS Roma have reached an agreement in principle to sign Aston Villa forward Donyell Malen on loan, with a conditional obligation to buy for around 25 million, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. The structure of the deal has been approved by all parties, with only final formalities remaining. The 26-year-old Netherlands international has made it clear that he wants the move, driven by a desire for consistent minutes and a guaranteed role as a central striker.

Aston Villa have completed a deal worth around €12m (£10m) to sign 17-year-old striker Brian Madjo from Metz. Madjo started Metz' first two Ligue 1 games of the season but has been limited to three appearances off the bench since then. Born in London, Madjo has played nine games for England's under-17s, scoring four goals, having switched allegiance back to the country of his birth after winning three senior caps for Luxembourg last year.

Aston Villa are reportedly prepared to part ways with midfielder Ross Barkley this month, as the club looks to navigate financial constraints while sustaining a surprise Premier League title charge. According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, the Aston Villa hierarchy has made the decision to listen to offers for the 32-year-old midfielder during the January window. Ross Barkley, who is currently earning reported wages of around 75,000 per week, has entered the final six months of his contract.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho both left on loan with no obligation to buy, and although neither is expected to have any future at Old Trafford, a final decision has already been made with the latter. Sancho has had a disastrous time of things at Man United since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

Wolves are expecting bids for their major players. Let's be honest, it looks like they will be relegated and it would take a miracle for them to stay up, so there is the view that they could sell in January to get the most money. Obviously nobody wants to lose their best players, but they might have to accept a big offer if it comes.

Well, I don't think Villa would want to sell him. I think he's been quite impressive for them from what I've seen of him certainly this year. But you know, that attraction of going to Barcelona for a Spanish player is pretty magnetic. And I'm sure he and his agent will be very tempted if that's the case. And if Barcelona can put together a deal that can actually get paid and get approved, which we know has been their problem.
