2 weeks agoAustralia captain, women's cricket great Alyssa Healy to retire
Alyssa Healy will retire from international cricket after the upcoming ODI and Test series against India in February–March.
The first game of the series was abandoned after 9.4 overs of the India innings, after they were put in by Australia. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and opener Shubman Gill lit up what play there was with the former hitting two fours and a six in the final three deliveries before the rain ended the game. Those strikes propelled Suryakumar to 39 off 24, while Gill struck 37 off 20 with the pair sharing their unbroken partnership of 62 in 5.9 overs.
Mitchell Marsh hit an unbeaten 46 off 52 balls while Virat Kohli was out for an eight-ball duck as Australia crushed India by seven wickets to spare in a rain-affected ODI series opener in Perth. Four rain delays totalling three hours and 40 minutes caused havoc as India stuttered to nine for 136 off a reduced 26 overs at Optus Stadium.
