The cast also includes Rita, a narcissistic cow, Lucy, an overworked and underpaid golden goose and a diminutive giant with an enormous Napoleon complex. This updated story by Ron Lytle will delight children and adults alike with its upbeat attitude, clever comedy and Broadway-style songs.
Well, it appears that fall has officially, um, fallen, which means the weather must be getting warmer. I do so love the Bay Area's many micro-climates. They've both hastened and deterred my potentially freezing to death in the cheap Sunset room where I've been staying. Makes me all the more eager to get out of the house. Fortunately, Bay Area theatre provides plenty of incentive to get out and about during the coming months.
Hidden amongst all the great things in Berkeley Rep's recent take on Uncle Vanyawas the cellist whose on-stage performance colored the surreal atmosphere. Those of us who have been following this performer the last few years knew she'd inevitably leave lasting impression with the few lines she was given. What we weren't expecting was for her to showcase an entirely new skill to go along with her acting. As usual, her work didn't just add to the scene, it made the scene.
