The superhero movie genre is diverse, making it challenging to rank the best films based on various criteria.
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day dropped on March 18, unveiled by Holland himself from the top of the Empire State Building at sunrise. Within 24 hours, it had been watched 718.6 million times, the most-watched trailer in the history of motion pictures.
No Way Home ended with the entire world forgetting about the existence of Peter Parker, so this new movie will deal with the fallout from that. His whole support system is gone, though it looks like he still checks in on besties MJ and Ned from time to time.
Aaron Pierre, the star of the upcoming series Lanterns, will reprise his role of John Stewart in Man of Tomorrow. Pierre plays John Stewart, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, in Lanterns, so his involvement in Man of Tomorrow is somewhat obvious, as we've known from the get-go that Man of Tomorrow will pit Superman and Lex Luthor against Brainiac, an alien villain.
To be Black in the U.S. has such an expansive meaning that traces back to Europeans deciding who got to be "white." While some people, like the Italians and Irish, earned their way into "white-ness," those with even a drop of Black in their heritage were relegated to the lower rungs of the racial ladder.
With Born Again already reuniting half of the street-level super-team, does that mean Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Iron Fist are waiting in the wings? Jones has expressed plenty of interest in returning, but Colter has been coy. "I was giving no one hope before," he said during a recent appearance on Shawn Stockman's On That Note podcast. After a promising development, however, we may be closer to seeing him step back into the MCU.
He did as much 13 years ago in Iron Man 3, the second he dropped his guise as the Mandarin to reveal that he was actually Trevor Slattery. The efficacy - not to mention the morality - of this twist has been the topic of heated debate ever since, but no one can deny that Kingsley isn't utterly sympathetic in the role.
In terms of audience recognition, Wonder Man is no Wonder Woman. But, as this latest addition to the MCU shows, that can afford a certain freedom. This miniseries is a surprisingly meta affair; a superhero fantasy by way of the kind of behind-the-camera machinations familiar to fans of Seth Rogen's The Studio. It tells the story of a pair of struggling actors, Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), who are hustling hard
Movies led by Black actors are more than just moments on a screen. Seeing the work lives of writer Darius Lovehall and photographer Nina Mosley unfold onscreen only made me feel more represented as a soon-to-be creative. And beyond their day jobs, exploring the vulnerability as the two meet and spark a romance, grow in relationship with their friends, and simply exist and unwind listening to poetry in their neighborhood speakeasy illustrates the overall humanity Black people deserve in and outside of a theater experience.
After the 2026 Golden Globes, Hamnet director Chloe Zhao was asked what message she wanted viewers to take away from her work. "What is grief, but love persevering?," she answered, while the cast nodded in agreement. It sounds like a beautiful maxim from Shakespeare itself, but it actually came from the Marvel Cinematic Universe - something Zhao would know, as she herself made an MCU movie. Its origin, Jac Schaeffer's show WandaVision, was the first MCU TV show to premiere on Disney+, and it set a high bar for the rest of the franchise - one that sparked a movie, two spinoff series, and countless comparisons to other shows.
I'm able to give this character the things that I want to be able to give this character, then you have the right guy. Russell says of his process in finding the vibe of the men he plays, emphasizing his intentional approach to embodying reluctant heroes across both Marvel and the Monsterverse.
In 2016, every studio that had a stake in Marvel or DC properties attempted to broaden the scope of their universe in order to set up future installments: The year saw a clash of heroes in both Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War, there was also the introduction of Marvel's mystical side in Doctor Strange, the expansion of the DCEU with Suicide Squad, and Fox's most ambitious X-Men blockbuster with Apocalypse.
