The text of the bill, HB333, adds new language to the Virginia statutes that requires any local school board that imposes new restrictions on any program of instruction on or relating to the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the United States Capitol and any accompanying curriculum or instructional materials, or any instruction provided by a teacher as a part of any program of instruction.

She became a useful tool. She became a saint, you might say, of the Revolution. People felt as though they could feel her fear, feel her death, feel her love for her fiancé. Underlying all of that was the sense that American leaders can't let this happen to white families ever again, this in spite of the fact that white Americans were just as vicious to Native Americans.

Truth be told, Reconstruction is not a fancy way of saying the Civil War. The term refers to the period after the Civil War, in which the former Confederate states were readmitted to the Union and had to adhere to the Constitution and federal statutes, particularly the newly-ratified 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, which abolished slavery, granted citizenship and the attendant rights to all persons born in the U.S. (including former slaves), and prohibited denial of voting rights based on race, respectively.
