An inquest has opened into the deaths of three sisters in the sea off Brighton beach. Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, from the Uxbridge area of London, died on 13 May in what police called a "terrible tragedy".
It was a dim, chilly morning in Brighton on Wednesday, May 13, when a walker spotted a body in the sea. The waters were roiling and the winds were high; a major operation mobilised four rescue teams, three RNLI lifeboats and two helicopters. Three bodies were eventually recovered and carried ashore.
Emergency services were called to the beach after concerns were raised about a person spotted in the water at around 5.45am last Wednesday, May 13, near Madeira Drive. Three bodies were later recovered from the sea nearby after the coastguard deployed a helicopter and rescue teams to assist with efforts.
I was 14, turning 15, and had the opportunity to go to Brighton, just to try the place, and for them to see me in person. I impressed them, and they loved me. I enjoyed everything and just made the decision.
"I don't always want to be known as a club that is nice. In certain moments you need to be quite resilient in personal duels. There are different ways of being resilient, of using a block, different techniques to win one-v-one duels - especially at set-pieces."
