Plans for hundreds of homes on north London station car park rejected

Sue Baker, a Labour councillor for Barnet Vale ward, told the committee she had received an overwhelming amount of negativity to the plans from residents. She listed the loss of the car park as problematic as it was used by many elderly residents as well as people with disabilities and mobility issues. Residents were concerned about the impact on the access road and station entrance as a school, St Catherine's RC Primary School, was also located close by.

Letters: Proposed building heights would dwarf Five Wounds Church

Now, the city of San Jose is considering 300-foot-tall buildings immediately behind the church at the future 28th Street/Little Portugal BART station. Today, the General Plan calls for 120-foot-tall buildings there, something that was agreed to by the community and city planners in 2013. The church is a living symbol of immigrants who wanted to maintain a little piece of their homeland and their language through the celebration of their faith and life's milestones with their families, friends and fellow immigrants.
