Police confirmed on Sunday that a man had now been charged in connection with an online communication offence between 14 and 17 December. A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "He was issued a recorded police warning." Lawwell, who became Celtic chief executive in 2003 and presided over the club for 18 years, was the victim of a fire attack on his South Lanarkshire home in May 2021, when three cars were set alight.
Celtic do not have a monopoly on bad decision-making. It just currently feels as if that is the case. A club who have dominated in Scotland for more than a decade, who have vast resources and more scope to plan than others of much lower stature, should never have been seeking a fourth manager in one season. That they are points firmly towards a lack of strategy and direction. It is a preposterous situation.
Ireland striker Evan Ferguson used the stage of Parkhead in Glasgow to respond to criticism from his manager at Roma, amid strong reports that the club are willing to end his loan deal from Brighton six months early, by delivering a two-goal salvo for the Serie A side in a 3-0 win over Celtic. It was a night to forget for the Bhoys, in particular Ferguson's Ireland teammate Liam Scales as the Wicklow man scored an own goal after only six minutes
Capped twice by Scotland, Deans was a prolific goalscorer for both Motherwell and Celtic in the 1960s and 1970s, winning six major honours with the latter. He started his career with Neilston Juniors and was nicknamed after former Everton and England striker Dixie Dean for his scoring feats, which included 60 in one season. A move to Motherwell followed in 1965, where he continued to find the back of the net regularly - 89 times in 198 appearances - and won the Second Division title.
Chairman Peter Lawwell adjourned Celtic's annual general meeting inside five minutes following chants of "sack the board" by some shareholders. Directors were met with boos while dozens of enlarged red cards were held up as they entered the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park. Cries of "out, out, out" followed before there were cheers for interim manager Martin O'Neill when he was introduced by Lawwell.
Former Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley believes fellow Welshman Craig Bellamy is "a perfect fit" to be Parkhead manager, who would be "very interested" in doing so either later this season or in future. Ledley is still close with the Wales manager and believes his "aggressive, front-foot" style with the national team would transfer well to Celtic and that the only thing stopping the move could be timing.
But Midtjylland got the breakthrough after recycling a corner in the 33rd minute, with Erlic rising highest to thump his header past Schmeichel. Just 98 seconds later, Gogorza, who assisted the first goal, got the hosts' second. He danced between two Celtic defenders as he cut inside from the left before bending a brilliant shot around Schmeichel into the far side of the net.
