Chances are Arthur Blank will not fire Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot during the season. It is not his style, after all, as the only time the Falcons' owner has done so was during 2020 after he took a big risk in keeping Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff around and watched them go 0-5 to open the season. That's especially true because he generally doesn't fire any coach before three seasons have passed,
The Giants are expected to add Justin Meccage as their pitching coach, reports Robert Murray of FanSided. Meccage has spent the majority of his coaching tenure in the Pirates' organization. He was most recently a minor league coach in the Brewers' system. After a brief playing career, Meccage got his coaching start in the college ranks. After seven years spent between the University of Texas-Pan American and Arkansas State University from 2004 to 2010, Meccage headed to the pros.
A couple of weeks ago, I asked who are the most hateable teams from a Braves fan perspective. The Phillies and Mets are run away favorites. So much so that they have already advanced in the bracket. The question now is who joins them in next Sunday's playoff. Your top two vote-getters will advance. I'm starting to feel the annoyance at the Dodgers. The Red Sox, Yankees, and Astros are good choices. I'm voting for the Marlins.
Mills, 68, has enjoyed a longtime relationship with Francona. He worked on Francona's staffs in Philadelphia, Boston and Cleveland going back to the 1990s. He spent most of that time as the bench coach. Mills got a two-plus year managerial run of his own with the Astros between 2010-12, though a rebuilding Houston team won only 38.4% of their games over his tenure.
When Ron Rivera took over as the head coach of the Washington Commanders in 2020, he brought long-time assistant Pete Hoener along with him to coach the tight ends. Hoener got an excellent year out of Logan Thomas. The following season, a promising young tight end named John Bates was ushered into the league. But Hoener was nearing 70 years old and ready for retirement.
"Javon Baker is making sure that he isn't easily forgotten after an underwhelming rookie year. His determination to prove every team that passed on him wrong is evident, showing that his opportunity to continue an NFL career might rest on whether he makes the Patriots roster for the 2025 season."
