Peloton's stock traded at a magical $125 in mid-2021, when people were trapped in their homes and wanted the exercise experience they had in the gym. By October 2022, the stock dropped to $7. It was down to $4 shortly after that, and has not improved by much more than a dime.
The PS5 Pro is getting the biggest price increase of all. The console launched in 2024 with a $700 price tag. In August 2025, it, along with other PS5 consoles, got a price increase, with the Pro jumping to $750. And next week, it leaps up to $900, which represents a $200 price increase in two years.
The console wars died down not because any side won, but because it became irrelevant. Major games, seeking to make their gigantic budgets back, went platform agnostic. Where once companies had splurged on making consumers identify with specific console platforms, suddenly where you play games had become a much less defining factor.
Now, keep in mind, these are not official numbers as Xbox doesn't share sales data these days. Instead, Alinea use their own magic formulas and weird rituals to estimate the numbers. So far, the company's data has proven to be very accurate, but it is not without mistakes or controversies regarding its calculation methods. The biggest success was Forza Horizon 5, which Alinea reported on last week, stating that the open-world racer sold a whopping 5.1 million copies on PlayStation.
Retail tracking firm Circana shared the top five most-played PlayStation games in the U.S. in 2026. The list is the same as it was last year, with Fortnite at the top. And looking back at 2023 and 2022, you'll notice that the most popular titles haven't changed much at all, either. That's bad news for developers trying to release new multiplayer games and fans hoping for more innovation.
But right now, of all times, feels one of the worst possible moments to reveal Hunters Gathering to a world wide web primed to make a Kombucha Girl face at everything it's doing. The last two years have been littered with the corpses of failed, cancelled, or still dying live service games. A lot of players are, understandably, tired of these things and unsure of whether they should even invest any time into caring, as so many seem to flop or shut down.
30 years ago chronicled a generational conflict between an old-timey pull-string doll and a fancy new one with buttons. The two toys learned to get along. This week a trailer for showing both toys enacting a against tablets. While I agree on the potential detriments of excessive screen-time, it is telling how the creators and intended audience now identify less with the kid playing with toys and more with the adult who just spent all of dinner hearing about ' butlerian jihad looksmaxxing.'
In the UK, 70 may not gurantee quality, but it tends to mean you are getting a blockbuster or "AAA" - a big-budget game made by a large team, built around cutting-edge graphics, sprawling worlds and dozens of hours of gameplay. In 2025 Nintendo set a new benchmark for game prices when it listed major Switch titles such as Mario Kart World at 74.99 (launching in the US at $79.99).
