The information was provided to public representatives in recent days by the local authority who confirmed that the handover date from the contractor to Cork County Council is Friday, July 31. The local authority anticipate that it will take at least two weeks to recommission the pool after this, so they are planning to reopen to the public in late August.
Councillors recently met with members of the United Nations Veteran Association, and they are very concerned in relation to the future of the association in Fermoy. They have been in the building for around ten years, and they are very grateful to the owners of that building for accommodating them for so long.
Fears have been expressed by several councillors that a serious accident will occur on a busy road in North Cork if adequate funding is not provided. At a previous Northern Committee meeting the elected members had unanimously raised concerns about the number of accidents occurring at the N72 Firville to Newberry Junction and queried if funding could be provided for the junction.
