Injected medications have rapidly expanded in the 2020s, with GLP-1 shots, fertility hormones, Botox, fillers, and wellness injections becoming widespread daily routines.
In 1997, at least, that was considered by most to be too young for plastic surgery. That's what the editors at Washingtonian and I thought. So they sent me out to visit five local plastic surgeons as a potential client with two complaints about my face: crow's feet and the lines around my mouth known as nasolabial folds. None of the doctors knew I worked for Washingtonian. "Does She Need a Facelift?" asked the headline.
Rebecca Fadanelli admitted guilt on four counts of importing merchandise contrary to law, two counts of selling or dispensing a counterfeit drug, and two counts of selling or dispensing a counterfeit device.
Elite ski jumpers are aware of the advantage and have already crotch-rocketed to scandal with related schemes. Last year, two Norwegian Olympic medalists, Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang, and three of their team officials were charged with cheating after an anonymous video showed the head coach and suit technician illegally restitching the crotch area of the two jumpers' suits to make them larger. The jumpers received a three-month suspension, while the head coach, an assistant coach, and the technician faced a harsher 18-month ban.
Now 25, Sydney has had both botox and lip filler. She is happy with her decision, and says she and her friends will do "whatever it takes" to feel more confident and "look their best". Sydney's mum, Dr Hayley Brown, an award-winning plastic surgeon based in Las Vegas, regularly injects small amounts of botox into her daughter's forehead. She says her daughter looks less tired, feels more confident and, Dr Brown believes, won't need more invasive surgery to smooth out deeper lines later in life.
