Former FBI Director James Comey has pleaded not guilty to charges of false statements and obstructing a congressional proceeding. Comey entered his plea via his lawyer Pat Fitzgerald during his arraignment in federal court on Wednesday in Alexandria, Va. The judge on the case set a trial date of January 5, 2026 and Comey is set to be released with no conditions.
According to the charges, on July 24, at around 9 a.m., an NYPD lieutenant was out on an unrelated assignment when he saw the charred remains of a dog on the street in front of 127-20 116th Ave. in South Ozone Park. The NYPD's Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) were notified, and an investigation was launched.
BRENTWOOD A Brentwood man has been sentenced to 8 1/2 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography and possessing an unregistered short-barreled rifle, authorities said. U.S. District Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr., handed 44-year-old Michael Patterson 103 months behind bars, after Patterson pleaded guilty to the crimes in May, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Craig Missakian of the Northern District of California.
