The EasySMX S10 Lite is the first third-party controller to offer native support for the Switch 2. It's an improvement on all non-Nintendo wireless controllers, which rely on macros to execute system-level commands, like GameChat, and require a strange, yet common first-time setup process to be able to wake the Switch 2.
Today we are at the cusp of revolutions in artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, renewable energy, and biotechnology. Each brings extraordinary promise, but each introduces more complexity, more interdependence, and more latent pathways to failure. This elevates prudence to be critical. Good design recognizes what cannot be foreseen. It acknowledges the limits of prediction and control. It builds not merely for performance, but for recovery.
Game controllers have not changed much in shape since the mid-1990s. They're still two-handed symmetrical slabs built around adult grip dimensions, loaded with enough buttons to pilot a small aircraft. For a 10-year-old just getting into gaming, picking one up for the first time is a bit like being handed a TV remote and told to perform surgery, no sweat.

The way I move between timescales. The zooming in and out from concept to detail. The instructions tell Claude how I would like ideas composed. I pull together concepts and experiences from my lived expertise to formulate a point of view - in this case, on this new AI technology.
HELIX is a biomorphic controller concept that borrows its overall stance from an owl, symmetrical, balanced, and ready to move. It's designed to come apart and fit back together easily, working as a single controller or as two separate pieces. The flexible shape is meant to follow how players actually sit and shift during long sessions instead of forcing one rigid grip that starts to ache after the third hour.
The third-party market in 2025 is no longer playing catch-up. It's producing controllers with drift-proof magnetic sensors, modular physical architectures, trigger calibration measured in millimeters, and battery lives that nearly triple what Sony ships as standard. The gap has flipped.
The RG GO1, which doesn't have a price or specific release date yet, features a 2.5-inch IPS LCD screen in the center of the controller. This can be used for various tasks, including reprogramming buttons and turning on rapid fire settings. The just-revealed controller also includes heartbeat sensors in the grips. Why? Anbernic says it will let you "monitor your well-being during intense sessions."
The Nintendo Pro controller line-up comes at a premium price tag, and that prompted creator Brux to make one of his own in LEGO flavor. To keep things simple, the DIYer adapts the Nintendo controller's original design. Piecing together the choice bricks to come up with the controller shape is hypnotic, and the best thing is that you can also make one for yourself. That's because the DIY is not as complex as some of the other builds we've seen in our time.
Vertical mice promise ergonomic relief. MMO mice deliver tactical control. Pick one, because the market says you can't have both. Except SOLAKAKA apparently didn't get that memo. And your CEO forwards you a LinkedIn post about how AI will replace 80% of UI work by 2026. And it seems like anyone can now make an app to solve a specific problem. AI is disrupting more than the software industry, and is doing so at a breakneck speed. Not long ago, designers were deep in Figma variables and pixel-perfect mockups. Now, tools like v0, Lovable, and Cursor are enabling instant, vibe-based prototyping that makes old methods feel almost quaint. What's coming into sharper focus isn't fidelity, it's foresight. Part of the work of Product Design today is conceptual: sensing trends, building future-proof systems, and thinking years ahead.
