The Cincinnati-based supermarket company has been shuttering locations since June of last year, when it announced a footprint optimization plan that would result in the closure of about 60 stores. According to a Fast Company review of local media reports and online review platforms like Yelp, Kroger could be more than halfway through that process.
After a decade of service, Whiner Beer Company, known for its barrel-aged sour beers, is closing its taproom in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. In an Instagram post announcing the closure, the company cited struggles in the craft beer industry. "It's a familiar story in the brewing industry," the owners write.
Bodenheimer said he's adjusting portions, like one less deviled egg per platter, or rearranging the measurements of a batched cocktail. "It's like you're in a recording studio, and you're turning the levels up and down on the master board," he said. Many of Cure's products are imported, from German beer, French cheese and Spanish Marcona almonds, which Bodenheimer refuses to substitute. He said some of the tariff burden is shared between the supplier and importer before it reaches the customer.
