Over 20,000 new melanoma cases were diagnosed in the UK in 2022, largely linked to avoidable UV exposure from sun and sunbeds.
King Charles III said Friday that early diagnosis and treatment will allow doctors to reduce his cancer treatment in the new year as he encouraged others to take advantage of screening programs that can detect the disease early when it is easiest to treat. "Early diagnosis quite simply saves lives," the king said. "I know, too, what a difference it has made in my own case, enabling me to continue leading a full and active life even while undergoing treatment," he added.
Researchers at the University of Bath said current diagnostic tools are missing the first 10 to 20 years of Alzheimer's, but believe a new Fastball test could transform the way the disease is detected. The 180-second passive test, that records electrical activity in the brain while participants view a stream of images, has been found to reliably identify memory problems in people with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) a condition that can lead to Alzheimer's.
