Executive producer Bruce Rasmussen told The Post that the tearful "goodbyes" weren't scripted. "I don't think I've ever seen it before on TV, where the characters actually break the fourth wall, and you see the actual emotion of what [the actors are] going through," he said.
"Do you know how long I've waited to do this? I can't stop thinking about it, and you." The sentiment expressed is one of deep longing, marking a significant moment in their relationship.
"I think growing up, that's my favorite player. So I mean, getting to be on the ice with him. I mean, that's something somebody dreams of... Players dream of this moment."
"I think what is interesting from the whole historic event is how I was one of four photographers in the buffer for his rally and not one photographer got the same picture as the other. We all had different angles, and that shows the importance of multiple visual journalists being present for campaign events so that every angle can be documented."
"The promise [scene] is a really hard one to cut, where Elphaba says, 'I will never leave you behind again,' because [Grande and Elphaba] are doing masterful work in that scene... Her insecurities, her real need to be friends and be there for Elphaba."
