While the Galaxy S26 lineup that's about to launch next month is rumored to be feature Exynos and Qualcomm chips earlier reports suggested Samsung might be ready to move to its own silicon for the following generation. Now however prominent Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station claims the Galaxy S27 Ultra will maintain the current tradition of running only a Snapdragon chipset.
Samsung announced the Exynos 2600 last week as the world's first 2nm chipset. It is expected to make its debut on the Galaxy S26 series in Q1, 2026, and we now have some additional details regarding the 2600's AI capabilities. The new chip is equipped with an all-new NPU, which is claimed to offer a 113% improvement over the Exynos 2500, and we now get confirmation that it will also get a significant boost for on-device AI tasks.
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 was announced in late September and is built on the 3nm node by TSMC, but according to the latest rumor, Samsung will be tasked with the production of the "for Galaxy" iteration that the company has been implementing in its flagship phones for the past couple of generations. Moreover, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for Galaxy SoC won't be just an overclocked version of the standard one, but it will likely be built on Samsung's 2nm GAA process.
