Washington actually got off to a solid start, getting on the board first courtesy of Tom Wilson less than four minutes into the game. They took a 2-2 tie into the third frame, which quickly became a 3-3 tie after goals from Dylan Strome and Brad Marchand. It felt like whoever scored next in this back-and-forth affair would take home the two points, and unfortunately for Washington, it was Florida with a tally from Aaron Ekblad.
Suzdalev fired Hershey into a 2-1 lead with 13:03 remaining in the third period. Suzdalev picked up the puck after receiving an indirect pass off the boards from Ryan Chelsey that sprung him and Bogdan Trineyev on a 2-on-1 rush. The Russian-born, Swedish-raised winger looked shot the whole way and fired a wicked wrister past Americans goaltender Topias Leinonen. The goal is Suzdalev's third point of the season (1g, 2a) for the Bears in five games.
Having sat out the previous contest as a healthy scratch, while facing off against his former team for the first time since being traded on June 30th, Maccelli responded by having his best showing of the season so far with his first multi-point game since January 16th. He registered a primary assist on Auston Matthews' tying goal before scoring the eventual game-winner in the third period with a wrister from the slot that beat Karel Vejmelka cleanly.
The Toronto Maple Leafs won their second game in a row thanks to a game-winning goal from Max Domi in the final two minutes, and nobody needed it more. Determined to not let it get to overtime, Domi capitalized off a giveaway in the offensive zone and scored his second of two goals to take a 4-3 lead near the end of the frame.
