The National Congress approved a legislative decree ordering the National Electoral Council to count the votes and tally sheets from the November 30 elections. The measure was passed with the participation of only 69 pro-government lawmakers and their allies. Castro supported the initiative and argued that electoral authorities had unjustifiably refused to scrutinize 4,774 tally sheets, representing the votes of 1,558,689 citizens.

United States President Donald Trump has lashed out as Honduras announced that it is to conduct a manual count of votes cast in the November 30 presidential election. The National Electoral Council (CNE) called for patience on Tuesday as it launched the count.
In a message on Truth Social, Trump endorsed the conservative candidate Nasry Tito Asfura of the National Party, claiming they could work together to combat drug trafficking. Trump also attacked the other candidates, accusing them of being communists. Torres, however, welcomed the Republican's comments, saying it affects the conservative candidates seeking the presidency of Honduras, which goes to the polls on Sunday.
