Honor Magic8 Pro improves telephoto imaging with a new ISOCELL HP9 200MP sensor and 85mm f/2.6 lens, plus fast charging and a physical camera button.
The camera system itself has been tweaked slightly, but it isn't overhauled. The main camera is still a 50MP 1/1.3-inch sensor, but its lens is a fixed f/1.6 and no longer an f/1.4-2.0 unit. We can live with that - variable aperture systems in wide-angle phone cameras are more of a gimmick than anything. The lens is also now slightly wider at 23mm compared to 24mm on last year's model.
The Magic8 Pro is already available in China and locals enjoy a large 7,200mAh Si/C battery. However, the upcoming global variant will have a capacity of 7,100mAh instead. That is less than a 2% difference and is not something that you are likely to notice. But Europeans will notice this - the EU variant of the Magic8 Pro will only have a 6,270mAh battery.
Honor launched the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro in China in mid-October, and the company is now gearing up for the international launch of the latter. The Magic8 Pro will begin its journey outside of China in Malaysia, where it's already being teased by Honor's local arm. There's no exact launch date yet, only a "coming soon" notice posted to Honor's Malaysian X account, as you can see below.
