The 18 new Humboldt penguins here at London Zoo mark a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to protect these charismatic coastal birds, whose wild populations have been shrinking due to habitat loss, overfishing, and climate change.

The Humboldt chick was born to male penguin couple Scampi and Flounder at Chester Zoo in April and is one of 10 adorable youngsters to have hatched.
