THE CLUB TOGARI launches in Japan as Asia’s first members-only private ski resort, offering uncrowded luxury access to natural powder skiing.
This clip was captured at Rusutsu Resort in Hokkaido, a resort featured on the Epic Pass. It was captured on a Saturday on what looks like a powder day and was probably shot early in the morning, so understand that there's a good chance this was the worst it was throughout the day. Additionally this was apparently shot on a day where high winds closed a lot of chairlifts and nearby ski areas.
If you were to ask a random skier what their bucket list resorts include, there's probably a handful of big names that you'd hear again and again. Aspen, Jackson Hole, Whistler Blackcomb, Palisades Tahoe, etc, etc. Hardcore skier Lucas Catania has been fortunate enough to travel to many of the world's most iconic ski areas, but there are still several he'd like to check out.
As the snowiest country on Earth, Japan is a premier ski destination. Every winter, cold, dry air from Siberia passes over the warm Sea of Japan, where it picks up moisture and turns areas like the Japanese Alps, where annual snowfall often exceeds 400 inches, into a winter wonderland. And, with nearly 500 resorts packed into a country just slightly smaller than California, Japan is equipped to take full advantage of Mother Nature's bounty.
