Blue Jays relievers show strong run prevention with elite FIP and xFIP, led by Louis Varland and Tyler Rogers early in the season.
The Toronto Blue Jays' bullpen has been a major disappointment this season. The team decided not to make many additions this offseason, and we're seeing the fallout. Tyler Rogers was the only big-name free agent addition made, and Spencer Miles was selected in the Rule 5 draft. Rogers has been elite, posting a 1.62 ERA over 16.2 innings, and Miles has held his own in his rookie campaign, with a 3.50 ERA over 18 innings.
It never feels good to say it, but it was one of those moments where you just have to tip your cap to the opponent. That's the case for Toronto Blue Jays reliever Louis Varland who gave up a three-run home run to Aaron Judge in the bottom of the fourth in Game 3 on Tuesday. The home run by Judge tied the game, and erase a five run lead for the Blue Jays who were ahead 6-1 after the first two-and-a-half innings.
